Visiting Ottawa

As our nation's capital, Ottawa, is the proud seat of government, and the keeper of many of our national treasures. The National Gallery and Canadian Museum of Civilization are among Canada's most popular museums, and the Canadian War Museum recently re-opened the doors of its new home on the Ottawa River.

Immensely popular among those who enjoy outdoor activities, visitors and residents alike enjoy cycling and rollerblading along the banks of the Ottawa River and the Rideau Canal, and in the wintertime, the city plays host to Winterlude, and the world's longest ice skating rink-over 10 km! Across the river, in Gatineau/Hull, nature lovers can hike, bike or ski through the Gatineau Nature Park, where in the fall some of the most glorious displays of foliage can be found.

For those in search of urban culture, Ottawa's Byward Market is home to some of Canada's best restaurants and a vibrant cross-section of anglophone, francophone and international faces and voices.
